If you find yourself cut from a showcase it is understandable that you may feel surprised, hurt, confused and mad. These feelings are hard to go through. It’s ok to feel these feelings. How ever you arrived at these emotions is a valid experience and a natural part of growth and trying something new. Remember you are loved and supported no matter where you are on your journey. All of us are human and need space to go through experiences authentically. Take your time. Express yourself fully. Your teacher is steady and can allow you space to express yourself in totality.
After expressing your feelings to your teacher, she will navigate a course to find out how you got to this point. There’s a system in place to be referenced. It's designed to protect the show, your classmates, your teacher, and you! If there is anything discovered to be missing in the system, the feedback will be taken and the system improved if possible. If instead there is something that you were unable to process or accomplish within the system you agreed to, there is no blame. The protocols connected to the system will illuminate where the healing is needed so you can feel clear, safe, and empowered to continued your journey in the best way possible.
First the deadlines will be reviewed.
Then the attendance requirements will be reviewed.
Then the policies will be reviewed.
Verification that you signed as having read the class description and this document will be reviewed.
Remember it is acceptable to not continue if you need to cancel your participation in the showcase. Part of the requirements of the class are that your teacher and your classmates are willing to adjust the show if this happens. However, there are protocols in place to process this in the best way possible to protect the integrity of the training process and show.
Next your teacher will determine where your cut or cancellation falls.
Level One Cut or Cancel
Injury
Death in family (includes pets)
Family emergency (includes pets)
Weather or Travel Delays
If you fall under this category, you will be cut based on lack of attendance but you are welcome to come back to the next session and showcase with no problem.
Level Two Cut or Cancel
Cancelling for anything not listed above is considered a non-approved cancellation and considered grounds for being cut. This includes not understanding the document signed explaining the terms. If you fall under this category, don’t worry. This just means you have to sit out of the next showcase but can still do the next session classes. After completing one session without showcase, you are eligible to try again. If you have more than three Level Two Cuts or Cancellations then you have to wait 12 months before you’re granted eligibility for showcases again but you can still take the classes.
Private lessons are $125 an hour. Cancellation policy follows same guidelines. No charge for allowable cancellations. Full charge for non-approved cancellations.
Attendance policy
Every class is mandatory in the four weeks leading up to the showcase (not counting the warm up on showcase day). Class is from 2-3pm on Sundays at P&A unless otherwise notified. You must arrive to class on time. If you are late, the same cancellation policies apply.
Deadlines
Costume must be worn in entirety to the last four classes leading up to the showcase. Quizzes must be passed two classes before the showcase. If quizzes are not passed, you may be reassigned a different dance or cut from the showcase. If these deadlines are missed, the same cancellation policies apply.
