My name is Ansuya and I am so very happy to meet you!
​
​​I am a recent 50 HR Yin Yoga graduate of the Arhanta Academy and I am currently immersed in my 200 HR Yoga training with Yoga Renew.

Along with this education, I have a lifetime of dance experience as a second generation Bellydancer including:


  • 20 years of global teaching and performance tours
  • Multiple DVD and online products
  • Television and press appearances
  • Teacher trainings for Bellydancers
  • Women’s empowerment programs

I am very excited to offer my latest “Sacred Sinuosity” Yoga Bellydance Fusion program to Yoga studios throughout the U.S.!

"Sacred Sinuosity”
2 HR Yoga~Bellydance
Fusion Workshop 


In this “Sacred Sinuosity” practice, Yoga is blended with the snake like movements of Bellydance in order to activate the Chakras, awaken the energy of Kundalini Rising, and release the goddess within!

“Kundalini” is considered a potential force of awakening consciousness, symbolized by a sleeping snake at the base of the spine. Bellydance, with its rich range of sinuous spinal movement, is an enchanting way to work with this compelling theme. 

Yoga is also an exquisite way to access and work with the Chakras (seven major energy centers of the body) in order to process emotions, balance the nervous system, and rejuvenate the entire physical, emotional, and spiritual body. 

Yoga and Bellydance work as an ideal fusion as Bellydance takes the ignited energetic connections created in Yoga poses and adds a vortex of healing and empowering energy by layering on specialized movements!

The postures and movements nurture the Hasta (Hand), Pada (Foot), Mula (Pelvis), Uddiyana (Core), and Jalandhara (Throat) Bandhas, while moving energy through and around all of our Nadis (energy meridians), bringing Prana (life force) to every cell of the body, while adding a next level experience of sensual female power and dance creativity!


Workshop begins with a Solar Plexus (Manipura), Heart (Anahata), Throat (Vissudha), Third Eye (Ajna), and Crown (Sahasrara) Chakra warm up.

This warm up is designed to loosen up ribcage, shoulders, thoracic and cervical vertebra, in order to grant you a deeper and more blissful relationship to breath and access to further flexibility and range of motion (and -E-motion) as you enjoy the upper body movements of Bellydance, including Chest Slides, Ribcage Circles, Upper Body Undulations, Upper Body Figure Eights, Snakes, Wrist Turns, and Hand Waves. This work draws elements from my BBM Bellydance Body Mechanics and Seven Chakras Bellydance Series programs. 


Class continues with a Sacral (Svadhisthana) and Root (Muladhara) Chakra warm up, designed to loosen up psoas, hip flexors, tensor fascia latte, obliques, lower back muscles, and lumbar spine, in order to increase your range and flow as you work your way into the lower body movements of Bellydance including Hip Slides, Hip Circles, Lower Body Figure Eights, and Lower Body Undulations. 

Then, all of the upper and lower body movements are brought together to create an intuition illuminating improvisational flow!

​This flow is designed to help you fully actualize a snake like awakening of your own powerful creativity, in order to develop a relationship with self on ever deepening and fulfilling levels!

But there's more! As we continue, we shake and shimmer into our shimmy section! With this, we create a vibrational harmony of elevated feminine energy that we take into our steps category, including traditional Bellydance techniques that will have us dancing across the floor as the sensuous, free, and beautiful goddesses that we are meant to be!

​This work draws elements from my BFF Bellydance Fitness Fusion program. Students will savor the opportunity to make “best friends forever” with their bodies in full self acceptance and body positive celebration as they unleash in an upbeat improvisation to culminate this exciting section of class!

And now to our fusion! Here is where we delve into our Hatha Yoga poses which will be moved through at a slow pace to give time to build strength and balance within poses and during transitions between poses. Each of these Yoga poses will be crowned with movement jewels by layering on the slow isolations of Bellydance for the Sacred Sinuosity effect! Standing poses include:
  • Tree (Vrksasana)
  • Half Chair (Ardha Utkatasana)
  • King Dancer (Natarajasana)
  • Warrior 2 (Virabbhadrasana)
  • Reverse Warrior 2 (Viparita Virabhadrasana)
  • Etended Side Angle (Utthita Parsvakonasana)
  • Triangle (Utthita Trikonasana)
  • Wide Legged Forward Fold (Prasarita Padottanasana)
  • Goddess (Utkata Konasana)
  • High Crescent and Low Lunge (Anjaneyasana)
From there we flow through:
  • Mountain (Tadasana)
  • Spinal Roll Down
  • Ragdoll
  • Halfway Lift (Urdhva Mukha Uttanasana)
  • Forward Fold (Uttanasana)
  • Garland (Malasana)
  • Cat (Marjaryasana)
  • Cow (Bitilasana)
  • Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
  • Three Legged Dog (Tri Pada Adho Mukha Svanasana)
  • High Plank (Adho Mukha)
  • Low Cobra (Bhujangasana)
  • Sphinx (Salamba Bhujangasana)
  • Seal
  • High Cobra (Bhujahngasana)
  • Child's Pose (Balasana)

And then back to our Sacred Sinuosity Fusion, layering Bellyance movement onto seated poses including:

  • Toes (Utthita Hasta Padangusthasana)
  • Thunderbolt (Vajrasana)
  • Little Thunderbolt (Laghu Vajrasana)
  • Fish Variation (Matsyasana)
  • Side Plank (Vasisthasana)
  • Pigeon (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana)
  • Mermaid Pose (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana Variation)
Breaks are taken between poses, or at any time that rest is needed.

Toward the end of our workshop, we will come into our “Yin" poses including:
  • Butterfly (Baddha Konasana)
  • Dragonfly (Upavistha Konasana)
  • Square (Agnistambhasana)
  • Shoelace (Gomukhasana Variation)

These poses will be held for longer periods of time in order to access the connective tissues of the body. Benefits include increased circulation which delivers hydration and nutrients to the muscles and joints, deepened flexibility, and further calming of the nervous system.

We will then wind down with a return to blissful breath and will conclude in restful:
  • Reclined Butterfly (Supta Baddha Konasana)
  • Fully reclined sacred Savasana! ​
